Sativa Indica RuderalisLemonades, limes, orange, and mandarin – one just can’t get enough of these zesty citrus aromas found in fruits, foods and even cannabis. A strong lemon scent is enough to perk your mood, which is why it’s perhaps used as the main ingredient in many perfumes. Citrus fragrances are a favorite for many, but apart from their aromatic uses, they offer several medicinal benefits as well. Cannabis buds come in a variety of fragrances, but citrus aromas are the most popular ones. The aroma is mainly due to the presence of a terpene called Limonene that’s found naturally in fruit rinds. Usually found in sativa-dominant strains, the terpene is now found even in indica cultivars. The terpenes are produced in the plant along with other cannabinoids such as CBD and . Terpenes are nothing but the essential oils of the plant, and much like other essential oils, they boast of their own benefits. Thanks to their anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant and anti-fungal properties, they are used in cosmetics and even cleaning products. Limonene not only helps to relieve pain, but it also stimulates our immune system enough to fight against nausea and other issues. Citrus cannabis seeds are those that produce marijuana buds smelling like lemons, mandarins, and lime. Depending on the way the plants are grown, the scent can be mild or exceptionally strong. Such buds are typically sour to taste. Sometimes the sourness is accompanied with a bitter aftertaste, but it could also be sweet, depending on the terpenes at play. Citrus marijuana buds must be dried and cured well to enhance the taste a tad further. Since they smell like regular lime or lemon plants, growing the cannabis plants indoors shouldn’t pose a big problem. The scent can be masked with carbon filters, but it won’t be necessary because the plants don’t smell like regular cannabis plants.
